What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is an ancient healing modality that allows us to come back to and maintain a healthy nervous system, which is a major component to living a healthy life. The capacity of our nervous system determines the level of safety we feel in our body, how we deal with stress as well as process emotions. When we have a dysregulated nervous system, our tolerance to hold and process our emotions becomes a lot smaller. As we go day to day pushing these emotions and feelings aside due to a lack of ability to hold and be with them, the energy of them gets trapped in our tissues. Emotions are energy in motion (e-motion) when they are restricted, they don’t just disappear, they become stagnant and over time cause disease (dis-ease) within the body. The style of Breathwork I guide is held in a 60 minute or longer container where you will use the power of conscious connected breathing to by-pass the thinking mind, connect to your spirit. and drop into the body.

The truth is, our bodies know how to heal themselves, it’s just a matter of getting out of our heads enough to let it do so. The mind tells us it’s not safe to feel these big emotions, which at one point it may not have been! The mind isn’t our enemy, it’s simply trying to keep us safe from these big scary emotions that may kill us (in it’s humble opinion hehe). And there comes a time where these outdated beliefs get to be re-wired for something truer for us now in this phase of our life.

This is where breathwork comes in. Breathwork brings new energy into our cells, encouraging the stagnant energy of supressed emotions, feelings, trauma etc to dislodge and finally process and be felt. The breath helps us ease into expanding the tolerance of our nervous system and reprogram our cells to a new vibration. Overtime our ability to handle with stress expands and we become less affected by the unavoidable stressors of everyday life. Naturally, there comes a sense of lightness, flow and expansion with a regular breathwork practice.

Ancient Indian yogis believed that deep breathing influences the flow of vital energy throughout the body which improves physical health and mental clarity.

Who Can Benefit From Breathwork?

The short answer – Everyone. Whether you’re struggling with suppressing your emotions, depression, anxiety, stress, feeling disconnected from yourself, wanting to sharpen your intuition and inner knowing, create more safety in your system, let go of limiting beliefs that are holding you back, release trauma you’ve been carrying with you for potentially decades – I could go on.

Realistically anyone who is looking for lasting healing and a deeper connection to self will benefit from breathwork. It’s truly one of those things you just need to experience to understand the magnitude of it’s power as you can’t really put it into words.
